Frostek

Frostek

Frost is a major threat to primary production. It impacts livestock survival rates and causes significant damage to crops which have direct losses to our food production system and cost primary producers hundreds of millions of dollars annually.

Frostek is developing a technology platform combining the use of microwaves and artificial intelligence to reduce the impacts of frost on both livestock and crops. The economic impact of frost in Australia is huge with 10-15 million lambs dying each year in Australia due to hypothermia, and crop losses from frost in 2017 declared as one of the greatest natural disasters in cropping history, with a dollar impact running in the hundreds of millions.

  • Reduce livestock and crop loss
  • Uses renewable energy
  • Low operational cost
  • Covers large geographic areas.

Frostek is an automated self-regulating system that utilises directional microwave technology to mitigate frost risk.

Existing tools for frost mitigation have limited application due to air quality, availability (helicopters are expensive) and geographic coverage areas (frost fans cover a certain area but are hard to transport).

Frostek’s directional microwave technology system is silent and produces no airborne particles, nor any greenhouse emissions if renewable energy is used to power the directional microwave.

Primary producers raising livestock in paddocks and in barns, as well as growers or tree crops, vines, horticulture, ornamentals and grain.

Domestic Australian market and internationally to New Zealand, Argentina, Chile, South Africa, US, Canada, Europe and the UK.

Frostek is currently raising capital to build a prototype.
