The Innovation & Collaboration Centre (ICC) is the University of South Australia’s technology startup incubator. It is renowned for its unique program that provides tailored support to early-stage technology startups, with a focus on space and deep technology.
Through the ICC's Australia-India Space Alliance program of exchange, participants will collaborate on critical technologies with an aim to build lasting connections, as well as fast-track market entry and investment.
Indian startup companies can connect and have access to critical areas of emerging Australian technology and exchange technical and business expertise. Australian startup companies will be exposed to technical expertise and research through several accelerator and incubators as well as university supported industry parks, enhancing their networks, and increasing their ability to trade and potentially seek investment from the fast-growing investment community in India.
Through a series of online networking events, technology demonstrations, and a trade tour, the Australia-India Space Alliance provides an opportunity to develop mutually beneficial relationships between emerging deep tech companies, supported by both Australia and India.
The Innovation & Collaboration Centre has specially curated the Australia-India Space Alliance. Created for those who wish to connect with like-minded people on an international level, the Australia-India Space Alliance encourages sharing knowledge and building networks, as well as creating opportunities to accelerate business in both Australia and India.
This initiative comprises six-months of monthly online networking events, a "demonstration day", and an opportunity to join a select group for a 10-day startup tour to India.
The initiative will include an online launch event, which will occur simultaneously in Adelaide and Chennai. Participants will also have the opportunity to present to potential investors through the demonstration day.
Participants based in South Australia will also have the opportunity to apply for the ICC's Incubator services, detailed below.
6 Months
Access to co-working space in either the Adelaide CBD or Whyalla, and access to UniSA’s support services including research and placements
Access to a pool of global industry experts and experts in residence who specialise in advice for the startup journey
Regular group activities supporting community building, resilience and access to networking events
Participants must be involved in the space ecosystem so that they can meaningfully contribute to the Alliance, whether that be as a startup founder, entrepreneur, researcher, or industry expert.
To apply, visit our 'ready to join the Alliance' section.
The ICC's Incubator services can be accessed for those based in South Australia, register your interest to learn more. Incubator service fees may apply.
No, the Australia-India Space Alliance is free to join. For those chosen to join the 10-day startup tour to India, costs of the tour will be covered (although you may want to allow for some personal spending money for the trip!). For those who choose to apply for the ICC's Incubator services, fees for this service may apply.
Unfortunately not. Places on the startup tour will be merit-selected by the Alliance leadership group based on startup readiness and program participation.
We are no longer taking applications for this program. If you are interested in the program, please email iccadmin@unisa.edu.au so we can contact you if further places open.
The Australia-India Space Alliance is supported by the Australian Government through the Australia-India Council of the Department of Foreign Affairs and Trade.
“The most important things you need to do to make your startup successful are not on your task list or in your inbox.”
– Terry Gold, Entrepreneur in Residence 2019
“Don’t compare yourself to the superhumans who started the latest and greatest tech wonder companies. It will only discourage you. Learn from them, but be thankful that you have what it takes”
– Terry Gold, Entrepreneur in Residence 2019
“Who you hire is more important than what you sell.”
– Terry Gold, Entrepreneur in Residence 2019
“Having lots of things on your task list means you have the opportunity to choose what is most important that only you can do. If it isn’t important, why is it on your task list?”
