Since 2015, the Innovation & Collaboration Centre has supported early-stage startups through providing workspace, mentoring and funding. Read more about our staff and our startups.

The Innovation & Collaboration Centre is home to Venture Catalyst and the state's first space incubator program Venture Catalyst Space. These programs are designed to help founders start their business.

SiteSeer
SiteSeer product

SiteSeer was created in 2015 by Dr. Sean Pickersgill as a solution to give students virtual access to building sites. Employing the Unreal game engine, a basic construction site was emulated and used in teaching. Pickersgill was joined by Andrew Lymn-Penning and Damian Madigan in 2022 to take the basic idea into a more immersive and comprehensive form and find applicability across the architecture and construction industry. The team expanded in 2023 to include Darcy Holmes to develop SiteSeer’s applicability across an array of commercial contexts, such as festival and campus management.

  • Visualises complex data sets within immersive 3D environments
  • Provides a unique intersection of gaming technology and digital twin modelling
  • A unique solution for introducing students and trainees to building construction, allowing users to move back and forth in time during the building process
  • Applicable across various alternate commercial contexts, including festival and campus management.

SiteSeer uses the digital capacities of game engine technology to create 3D environments that emulate everyday places. Digital twins—virtual representations of physical objects—have been broadly adopted by system engineers to manage complex systems, but are yet to impact daily life. The SiteSeer platform stands apart through its ability to communicate the invisible daily interactions everyone experiences, enabling the visualisation of complex data within a 3D digital environment on demand.

SiteSeer are currently extending their technology by developing a phone app for 3D navigation of semi-permanent events incorporating ticketing, marketing and social communication.

SiteSeer’s markets are the architecture, engineering and construction industries, with a focus on education providers who need to familiarise students and trainees with complex construction processes. In addition, the SiteSeer platform is applicable to campus organisations, stadium management, and semi-permanent festival environments that may benefit from complex communication solutions for patrons.

SiteSeer is looking to partner with education providers in Australia that have oversight of construction industry training, such as the Construction Industry Training Board (CITB) and TAFE SA, as well as equivalents in other Australian states. SiteSeer is also interested in working with campus organisations and stadium management, and building on existing partnerships with semi-permanent festival facilitators.
