Programs
The Innovation & Collaboration Centre is home to Venture Catalyst and the state's first space incubator program Venture Catalyst Space. These programs are designed to help founders start their business.
Having access to the right people at the right time is crucial for enabling startups to grow their businesses.
At the ICC, we engage with experts across a vast range of industries to share their knowledge, experience and connections with you. Since 2015, we’ve connected our startups with many experts and mentors with expertise ranging from governance and business strategy to exporting and sales and in diverse sectors from Aerospace and Agritech to Health and Energy.
Adjunct Senior Lecturer, UniSA
Ady is an Adjunct Senior Lecturer at the University of South Australia (UniSA), Senior Lecturer in the Faculty of Engineering at University College London (UCL), Co-Director of the Southern Hemisphere Space Studies Program (SHSSP) and Education & Training Director at the SmartSat CRC.
Adjunct Industry Fellow, UniSA
Amanda is a professional company director serving on many boards, including Ingenia Communities Group Ltd, People’s Choice Credit Union, UniSA Ventures and the Commonwealth Innovation Investment Committee. In addition, Amanda has taught product innovation, ran a venture capital fund, and worked on product launches, capital raisings and M&A transactions.
Partner, Acumen Ventures
Andrew is an investment professional with experience in asset classes ranging from venture capital to global listed equity and fixed income portfolio management in Australia, the US and Asia. His primary interest is in early-stage technology company investment, development and management.
Business Development Manager, Food & Nutrition, CSIRO
Atul is a Business Development Manager within the Nutrition and Health at CSIRO. Atul has 20 years of experience working across the USA and Australia in the private sector in business development, science/engineering, technical and business management.
Innovation Connections Facilitator, CSIRO
David has extensive management experience in the food industry with small and large, internationally focused manufacturing companies, including George Western Foods, Qantas, International Tastes, Hilton Hotel Group (UK), De Vere Leisure Group (UK). In addition, he has owned his own small food service business and has been a Technical Food Advisor for the South Australia Centre for Manufacturing.
Director, DNA Innovation Pty Ltd
After completing training as an electronic engineer, Doug founded several businesses in the UK, Europe and SE Asia in media, distribution. Doug returned to Adelaide as an Investment Manager at a seed/early-stage technology investment fund and co-founded businesses in agricultural consulting and data analytics.
Chief Executive Officer, Saber Astronautics
Before founding Saber Astronautics, Dr. Held was a US Army Major for US Space Command. He was a lead instructor at the Interservice Space Fundamentals Course and an engineer at Army Space and Missile Command Battle Lab. Dr. Held lectured for the IRS Space Station Design Workshop, University of New South Wales, and International Space University. He currently is on advisory committees for space startups in the US and Australia.
Chief Relationships Officer, Investment & Business Development
Jay is a finance professional with experience in GIS, Defence, Renewable Energy, Financial Services, and Technology. His expertise includes strategic investments, venture investments, mergers and acquisitions, and financial analysis and modelling. Jay has held executive positions on company boards and management.
Program Director, SmartSat CRC
Jeff has over 30 years' experience in research, development, commercialisation and management, with a significant component linked to satellite communications. Jeff has more than 20 years of experience working on industry, government and academic projects. He has worked with many organisations on space projects, including Inmarsat, Intelsat, European Space Agency, COM DEV and Australian Defence.
Chief Executive Officer, LeapSheep
Kirk Drage is CEO and co-founder of LeapSheep, a subscription advisory and startup building platform. Kirk spent 12 years with Microsoft as Head of Entrepreneurship and Venture Capital Relations for the Asia Pacific. He has developed artificial intelligence products and services at startups in Silicon Valley and is a early-stage angel investor.
Director of Strategic Market Development, APAC at Afterpay
Matt has more than 16 years of deep experience working in emerging tech/fintech, e-commerce and marketplaces. Matt has worked across Australia, The USA, Singapore and APAC looking at commercial strategy, domestic and cross-border market expansion, legal and regulatory strategy. Matt has founded businesses ranging from retail tea franchising to real-estate disruptors.
Adjunct Professor, UniSA
Michael is a former Chair of the Space Industry Association of Australia. He practised law for 41 years, including 22 years as a partner of Ward & Partners, a prominent South Australian legal firm. In 2002 he co-founded Adelta Legal, a specialist commercial law firm.
Public Health Scientist and Innovator
Dr. Neil is passionate about the use of technology in helping improve healthcare. His qualifications include over 10 years of professional experience, a PhD in Public Health, an MSc in Bioinformatics, a BSc in Computer Science with specialisation in Software Technology, and a certificate in BioMedical Design and Innovation from Denmark.
CEO, Cohda Wireless
Paul is a senior executive with deep experience in several markets - space, wireless, automotive, mining, and transportation. He has held CEO, Chief Engineer, CTO, and BD roles in several startups. Paul has a proven track record of growing companies, creating new products, and developing markets for them.
Geoscientist, Educator and Entrepreneur
Peter is a geoscientist, educator and entrepreneur in the global arena. He has had held executive technical management roles in a multi-billion-dollar company, been a "UNICORN" co-founder, and a co-founder of a global Geo-finance intelligence company. In addition, Peter is the co-founder and Chairman of Towards a Better Future Foundation, a philanthropic foundation that supports indigenous relationship building, innovative education and human rights.

Rachel is the CEO and Co-Founder of Adi Insights Inc: a product developed to help managers ensure their customers never wait too long for service. Rachael has over 20 years of experience in managing teams and running businesses. Rachael has helped thousands of retail, hospitality, manufacturing and health care businesses improve their labour efficiency.

Dr. Rajeev Kamineni has a Phd in entrepreneurship, 5 start up ventures, 3 masters and a bachelors degrees, he is an active Rotarian for many years and is currently a director and member of Rotary Club of Adelaide, he was Chair of University of Adelaide Theatre Guild and also Secretary and Vice-President of the Prospect District Cricket Club.
Executive Director Defence and Space, Defence SA
Reg Curruthers joined the Royal Australian Air Force in 1981, graduating from the RAAF Academy in 1983 with a Bachelor of Science. After graduating as a Navigator, he flew the P3C Orion completing numerous operations and exercises nationally and internationally.

Sarah Mortellaro is an experienced senior executive specialising in strategic marketing, business development and stakeholder engagement. Sarah has extensive international experience with a background in science and technology. Her previous role with was with a SA government agency working with Startups and entrepreneurs. Sarah is currently working for Australia's national science agency, CSIRO.
Senior Research Scientist, Physicist, And Developer of Sensor Technologies – CSIRO
Dr. Stephen is a senior scientist in the Optical Systems Team. He develops optical devices for satellites and remote sensing, monitoring of agricultural crops, lakes and rivers, along with many other applications. Stephen has worked as an experimental physicist for over 20 years, studying atomic interactions at extremely low temperatures using laser cooling.
Director at South Australian Space Industry Centre
Tiffany serves as the Director for Space Industries at the South Australian Department for Trade and Investment, commenced as a Director of the South Australian Space Industry Centre (SASIC) in 2017. Since joining the Department of Trade and Investment in 2015, Tiffany has worked with numerous national and international technology companies on investment opportunities in South Australia, focusing on NewSpace, immersive technologies and digital production for film and television.
