The Innovation & Collaboration Centre is home to Venture Catalyst and the state's first space incubator program Venture Catalyst Space. These programs are designed to help founders start their business.
It's good to be back! After a short break, we've returned for a stellar new year. Get ready for exciting events, new startups, and more success in 2023. Here are our top highlights from December, along with our upcoming events. Stay tuned for our latest updates!
Safety from Space founder and Venture Catalyst Space alumni, Dr Mark Rice, has played a pivotal role in leading SmartSat CRC’s collaboration with NASA to further develop astronaut emergency communications. Dr Rice is also leading a research project on a dual-use satellite messaging beacon system for defence and emergency services personnel. The project is funded by the Defence Innovation Partnership, and supported by UniSA, Flinders University, SmartSat CRC and the Defence Science and Technology Group.
A huge congratulations to ResearchSat and founders Raviteja Duggineni and Jibin Jeffery Dhanaraj for their first sub-orbital nanosatellite launch, exploring the role of microgravity on pharmaceutical and biological experiments. The ResearchSat team has worked at the ICC since 2018, developing its ADI Alpha CubeSat in our tech lab. The CubSat successfully launched from Sweden late last year.
Creative ideas were born at Techstars Startup Weekend by participants who committed to a weekend full of workshops and ideation. The teams were all focused on the circular economy with a social impact element, The winning team, named ‘Waste Nothing’ devised a solution to solve construction industry waste. They'll be joining us this year!
The ICC has moved! We’ve enjoyed our time in UniSA’s Bradley building but the future of innovation can now be found in our new home, just up the road at 9 Light Square! ICC Director Jasmine Vreugdenburg says co-locating with university academics and researchers in the Enterprise Hub will create exciting opportunities for collaboration and commercialisation.
