Venture Catalyst Space (VCS) participant AICRAFT announced their inclusion in the Waratah Seed mission. This mission will allow new space technology to be tested in space as payloads on the Waratah Seed WS-1 (Waratah Seed) spacecraft. With launch scheduled for October 2023 this mission is vital for AICRAFT in developing and demonstrating their low-power, ultra-high reliability space edge computing module.
Robinson Aerospace Systems held their product launch in late March. Created by 19 year old Edward Robinson, he hopes to inspire the next generation by giving kids the opportunity to build their own satellite. Ed and his team are a part of the 2023 Venture Catalyst Space cohort.
The ICC went on the road in April, taking seven startup companies from around the country to India to meet their counterparts.
In May we held a sold out event, with Prof. Khalil (Charlie) Shahin AO, Managing Director of the Peregrine Corporation. His experience and expertise made this not only a valuable event but also an inspiring one, as he shared with us insights on the journey the family run business took to go from one petrol station to a $1.1 billion business.
The winners for the 2023 Australian Space awards have been announced, including Isabella McCulloch Co-founder of Robinson Aerospace Systems who won Graduate of the Year. Several Venture Catalyst Space participants were recognised as finalists including 2023 participant Edward Robinson from Robinson Aerospace Systems for Innovator of the Year (Individual) and 2022 participants Blue Dwarf Space and QL Space as finalists for Startup of the year.
