The Innovation & Collaboration Centre is home to Venture Catalyst and the state's first space incubator program Venture Catalyst Space. These programs are designed to help founders start their business.
Software startup Framework is preparing to onboard more than 50 pilot users in January next year, after the successful launch of their first MVP.
The Innovation & Collaboration Centre (ICC) hosted Framework's StartUpdate event earlier this month, where the team formally unveiled their product.
Since the event, co-founders Albert Marashi, Lachy Hislop and Will Gerard have received resounding support for their venture.
“We had potential customers and investors in the audience who affirmed the massive potential of Framework to us… and the big market opportunity they see for our business,” Will Gerard said.
The Framework team have created an all-in-one management platform that erases the need for dozens of online applications.
Marashi, Hislop and Gerard have utilised advanced computer science to build a new graph database from scratch.
This will allow users to perform hundreds of daily business functions, like crafting sales pipelines, tracking projects and communicating with team members.
“We’ve had registrations for our product from a diverse range of industries,” Albert Marashi added
“From startups themselves, to IT consultants, software companies and digital marketing agencies.
“We’ve also had bankers, lawyers and financial advisors who are keen to trial our software at their organisations.”
The team has also received interest from investors.
In November, the team were afforded the opportunity to pitch to the ICC’s Enterprise Circle.
“That process definitely helped us refine our pitch,” Lachy Hislop explained.
“This was a significant step forward, as it helped us understand how to truly convey the value of our business, in a way people can understand and appreciate.
“It helped us improve our StartUpdate pitch, which is what ultimately led to the increase of interest in our business.”
In 2022, Framework plans to double its team and upskill its staff, while generating a “community of passionate users.”
Frameworks are part of the ICC’s Venture Catalyst program. For more information about this program, visit the Venture Catalyst program page.
FireFlight Technologies, part of our 2019 Venture Catalyst Space cohort, has received $100K in funding from the state government’s Go2Gov program – congrats!
Its mapping system, which allows for accurate and rapid tracking of a fire’s path, will be trialled with the Country Fire Service to help limit the destruction caused by bushfires.
Our 2021 VC Space cohort has only just graduated, but we’re straight back on it with the applications already closed for the 2022 program.
Jasmine Vreugdenburg, Associate Director of the Innovation & Collaboration Centre said: “It’s great to see a growth in the number of applications from the last cohort, and to see such a high calibre of applicants this year”.
Shortlisting will occur in January with the new cohort to begin in March. We can’t wait to meet our new space startups!
We’re proud to have seen our 2021 Venture Catalyst Space cohort graduate, our Venture Catalyst Social Enterprise cohort begin, and to have become one of five SA service providers support international entrepreneurs seeking a 188E visa.

“Grow your network. It’s about who you know and a global mindset. Just because it may be new or not work out locally, doesn’t mean it hasn't already been conceived elsewhere - there could be opportunities to find new connections and collaborate.”
