The University of South Australia’s Innovation & Collaboration Centre (ICC) has been a growing hub for innovative entrepreneurs to develop their startups for the past eight years.
Attracting new international startups to the South Australian entrepreneurial landscape has been a focus of the ICC since 2021 through the Global Pathways Program (GPP), this year taking in two new companies, Pacific Legacy and Future Mouths Training and Technology.
The visa program was first established as the Supporting Innovation in South Australia (SISA) Visa program which started in 2018 and has now changed its name to the GPP.
GPP provides a pathway for entrepreneurs to relocate or establish their business in South Australia. To set these entrepreneurs up for success, the ICC offers dedicated and tailored support through its Venture Catalyst accelerator program.
UniSA Deputy Director: Business Incubation Craig Jones says the organisations joining the program this year will benefit the wider South Australian community.
“It is also about creating a culture for Adelaide to be seen as a desirable place for entrepreneurs to establish their organisations.”
Five companies have received incubation support from the ICC as part of their nomination for GPP including: Edulyte, Quickly Technologies PTY LTD, SOCIO Markets and this year’s Pacific Legacy and Future Mouths Training and Technology.
Felisha Chamei, Founder of Pacific Legacy said they are excited to be part of this program as they aim to build on their startup concept to not only launch to market but create a business that’s sustainable and scalable to address a growing problem.
Felisha stated, “the SA startup ecosystem is the perfect setting for early-stage startups who really want to make an impact. We aim to progress to a stage where we employ SA local talent as well as collaborate with other tech startups and strategic partners who align with our mission which we hope will have a positive impact in the startup community.”
Founder of Future Mouths Training and Technology Maha Alatrash said, “the distinctive combination of online training, mobile applications, and rural dental assistance offered by Future Mouths Training and Technology seamlessly aligns with the Global Pathways Program's focus on innovative solutions. I was captivated by the program as it offers an optimal platform for showcasing our state-of-the-art technology to a worldwide audience and establishing collaborations that can significantly enhance dental education and care on a global scale.”
In joining the ICC community, these startups now have access to a pool of global industry experts who will help drive their progress over the next six-months, tailored workshops, university resources and one-on-one mentoring.
Entrepreneurs interested in the GPP program can sign up for the ICC newsletter to find out when visa nominations are open again.
