Student to Entrepreneur: The Weekend Event

Over the course of a weekend, UniSA's entrepreneurial club, IPITS (Intellectual Property, Innovation, & Technology Society) facilitated the Student to Entrepreneur: The Weekend Event, along with the Innovation and Collaboration Centre, and Entrepreneur Story.

Over 30 people came along to the event held at the ICC from 4-5 August 2017, which consisted of a mix of aspiring entrepreneurs and ambitious students, who all worked together, pitched ideas, and formed five great teams.  Each team worked on their ideas throughout the two days and finally presented them to a panel of judges.

The winners of the event were 'Boss Sense', who realised that business meetings and work offices can be put to better use through the use of a new online technology, providing a more productive and effective system.

The runners-up were 'Draft Box', which was another great idea to get law and accounting students to gain practical experience and paid work, while allowing the clients to get their services faster and at a lower cost.

Boss Sense and Draft Box were great example of how a rough idea can turn into something revoluntionaty with the right amount of motivation and teamwork.

With lots of food, mentors, prizes, and follow-on opportunities, it was one to remember! Look out for it next year and maybe you can get your idea out there!
