Introducing Taste Studios.
New to the ICC, Taste Studios co-founders Ricky Chau and Nigel Khoo have spent over a decade in the food industry. A distributor in the food service industry, Ricky met Executive Chef at Rockford Hotel Adelaide, Nigel, as a supplier.
After finding a common interest in nutrition and sports, they eventually joined forces to develop Eat Active, an innovative pre-prepared meal solution and marketing concept for food venues to serve healthier options for children.
After pitching the concept over two rounds as part of the State Government’s D3 Challenge to tackle childhood obesity, Taste Studios successfully secured grant funding and an official partnership with SA Health to launch Eat Active commercially.
A part-time University of South Australia academic staff member, Ricky has taken on a some of the University’s business and nutrition students nearing the end of their studies to give them practical and worthwhile experience in the business industry as part of a startup, and help put what they’ve learned into action. Many of these students have now gone on to secure ongoing roles within the business.
Eat Active encourages a fit and nutritious lifestyle which can be achieved by a healthy, balanced diet and regular exercise. The brand gives appealing food favourites to younger patrons that have been developed to meet the Australian Guidelines for Healthy Eating.
With the help of Eat Active, food venues, restaurants and families will be able to serve nutritionally balanced, guilt-free meals that kids will actually eat.
In 2019 Taste Studios will also be piloting a ‘direct to home’ model for busy parents who want affordable, nutritional meals for the family with ‘doorstep convenience’. They are looking for an initial 50 households to participate and give feedback in exchange for some amazing pre-launch offers.
